LASAGNA
Step One
Brown 1lb of Sausage or Hamburger.
Add
1 Tbs. Basil
1Tbs. Parsley
1/2 tsp. Garlic powder
After meat is all browned. drain grease.
Add 2 1/2 Cups of crushed or diced tomatoes.( if you don't like chunks. find the puree)
1 1/2 Cups. Tomato Paste
( Easier to deal. Use 2 large cans of tomatoes. and 1 small to med can of paste.)
Let mixture simmer for about 30-45 min
Step 2
Mix in bowl
2 Large container of cottage cheese. ( approx 4 cups.)
( I know some people prefer ricotta, go ahead and try it if your not a cottage cheese fan.)
2 eggs
1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese
2 Tbs. parsley
1/2 tsp of pepper
Mix together and set aside
BOIL
8-10 Lasagna noodle
( I don't trust the ones you don't have to boil.)
GRATE
1 very large Block Mozzarella
( go cheesy!)
Use a
13x9 pan ( if you have a little bigger. go for it.)
LAYER :
1- noodles ( over lap just a bit, cover edges)
2-Cottage cheese mixture.
3-cheese
4- Meat sauce
Repeat steps.
Cook in oven at 350' for about 30 min
( it will start to bubble a bit)
Let stand/cool for about 10 min before serving.
Left overs are fantastic and it freezes great!
* This recipe was from my mom who is an excellent cook! It stood the stand of time and six picky children!
